Job Description

Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America\x92s most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance and fine arts seeks to hire a Production Technician/Designer. This position supports institutional production needs in the performance/rehearsals of Theater, Music, Dance and other arts divisions as needed. The Production Technician/Designer is responsible for scenic/properties design as needed for productions and to oversee construction, finish, installation, and strike of scenery/props.,

Major responsibilities would include ,
,
Support Presents Department team and artistic divisions onset development, design, and construction,
,
Provide scenic design expertise as needed for a variety of presentations including theatre and dance performances,
,
Responsible for the construction/purchase of props for productions across campus,
,
Collaborate closely with directors to create compelling designs for their productions,
,
Support shop build schedule and construction as needed,
,
,
Qualifications,
,
Bachelor\x92s degree in technical theatre required. MFA in theatre or design is preferred.,
,
Must be able to handle a rigorous work schedule including nights and weekends in a high-pressure environment,
,
Must be an efficient multi-tasker,
,
A collaborative, creative spirit with a sense of humor is a must,
,
Working knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures of theatre, dance, and music productions and presentations including stage, set, sound and lighting design and implementation; stage management; computerized lighting systems; stage carpentry; appropriate safety precautions and procedures,
,
Experience working in a performing arts center, professional theatre or academic arts environment is required,
,
Valid driver\x92s license,
,
Position requires someone who is self-motivated and able to work well in a collaborative environment.,

Must able to lift, push or pull objects up to 100 pounds using appropriate tools.,
,
The successful candidate should have a solid knowledge of and experience in theatrical construction practices, methodologies, and supervision. ,
