ARTS ADMINISTRATION INTERNS will support the company in all administrative responsibilities. Ideal candidates must have excellent organizational, communication and writing skills; the ability to prioritize and multitask; and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. DEVELOPMENT: Assist the Executive Director and Development + Communications Manager with grant applications, drafting outreach and acknowledgement letters, board correspondence, planning and executing donor events, and other fundraising services. Ideal for candidates with an interest in development and fundraising.,

GENERAL MANAGEMENT: Assist the Executive Director and General Manager with generating contracts, reporting to unions, tracking budgets and expenses, processing payments, petty cash, payroll, and other producing duties. GM intern will also assist with house seat management, daily sales reports, supporting house management for all Powerhouse venues, and other audience services. Ideal for candidates with an interest in arts administration and general management.,

MARKETING: Support the Executive Director and Development + Communications Manager in coordinating external communications for the Powerhouse Season. Responsibilities include cross-promotional outreach, program layouts, proofreading and editorial work, social network and website updates, light video/photo editing, and graphic design. Ideal candidates will have an interest in learning about day-to-day promotion of a small non-profit theater company. Candidates must have excellent organizational, communication and writing skills; the ability to prioritize and multitask, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. CARPENTRY INTERNS assist Master Carpenter and Technical Directors in the construction of sets throughout tech and production. Duties include, but are not limited to: build, load in, and strike of all scenic elements for the Powerhouse Season; maintenance of department shops and equipment; and the potential of serving on a run crew.,

COMPANY MANAGEMENT INTERNS support the Company Manager and Assistant Company Managers in coordinating transportation, housing, special events, hospitality, and all day-to-day company needs for 350+ professional artists in residence. Company Management is a fast-paced department that is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for our artists and staff. Candidates must have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a "roll up your sleeves" attitude. Work experience in event production, artist relations, or other fast-paced environments a plus. Must have valid Driver\x92s License and be able to work on their feet.,

COSTUME INTERNS support the Costume Department in constructing/pulling/shopping costumes for all mainstage productions and workshops, assisting in fittings, aiding in the care and maintenance of stock and dressing actors for mainstage productions. PAINT INTERNS work closely with the scenic painter on all the mainstage productions. Applicants must have knowledge of scenic painting techniques and surface treatments including, but not limited to, aging, distressing, and texturing. Applicant must also be self-motivated, willing to work irregular hours, safety conscious, and capable of following direction. May serve on a run crew.,

PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT INTERNS assist the Production Manager and the Assistant Production Manager in all general management responsibilities, including vendor negotiations, budget tracking, rehearsal/presentation room set-up, technical supervision, and other Production responsibilities. PROPERTIES INTERNS support the Properties Supervisor and Assistant Properties Supervisor in the building/acquisition of all properties needed for the Powerhouse Season, maintenance of department shops and equipment, and assistance during strikes. Sound Interns assist Sound Department during tech and production including loading in, changing over, maintaining equipment, mixing, and sound board operation. STAGE MANAGEMENT INTERNS assist Equity Stage Managers on Powerhouse productions and workshops. Stage management interns might also be asked to stage manage a reading for the reading series. Summer Interns will contribute to the Powerhouse Season, an eight-week residency and partnership with Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where each summer more than three hundred and fifty professional playwrights, directors, actors, and designers as well as close to fifty student apprentices live and work together. During the Powerhouse Season, NYSAF Season supports 2 fully-produced mainstage productions, 3 musical workshops, 2 play workshops, 10 readings, and a few residency projects in a flexible environment tailored to meet each project\x92s developmental needs, all of which are open to the public. ,

Powerhouse interns receive hands-on practical training in their specific departments, master classes with senior staff and visiting artists, and other educational and career-development support. Several interns each year continue on to work in the field thanks to relationships they built during their time with New York Stage and Film, and others return as members of NYSAF\x92s seasonal staff. Commitment generally runs from early June to early August. Stipend and free on-campus housing provided, as well as access to campus resources such as the gym and library. ,
