Job Description

New York Stage and Film (NYSAF), a not-for-profit AEA Company which produces its summer season of new plays at the Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, seeks fulltime staff for the 2020 Powerhouse Season. The Powerhouse Season supports 2 fully-produced mainstage productions, 3 musical workshops, 2 play workshops, 10 readings, and a few residency projects in a flexible environment tailored to meet each project\x92s developmental needs, all of which are open to the public. Each summer more than 350+ professional playwrights, directors, actors, and designers, and student apprentices live and work together. Positions generally run from early June to early August. Salary, free on-campus housing, and transportation between NYC and Poughkeepsie at the beginning and end of the season are provided, as well as access to campus resources such as the gym and library.,

The SOUND SUPERVISOR oversees all aspects of Department including: participating in production meetings with designers and management, ordering/rental/purchase of all necessary sound equipment, attending technical and dress rehearsals and performances as needed, supervising load-ins, hangs and focuses of all necessary equipment, running strikes for all mainstage and workshop productions, and supervising a staff of an Assistant Supervisor, a Staff Technician, and a number of interns. Successful candidates will work with world-class designers on a tight timeline and budget. Previous sound supervisor experience preferred. ,

The ASSISTANT SOUND SUPERVISOR is responsible for aiding the Sound Supervisor in maintaining all audio related aspects of NYSAF\x92s three venues and generally ensuring smooth operation of the sound department throughout the 2020 Powerhouse Season. Duties include but are not limited to; overseeing execution and success of live sound reinforcement and playback during various events in multiple venues as needed, assisting the Sound Supervisor in coordinating with creative teams and production staff to fully realize show designs/ requirements within the capabilities of the department, managing a crew of interns during load in and load out. Proficiency with AutoCAD or Vectorworks required; prior live mixing experience preferred.,

The SOUND TECHNICIAN will work closely with the Assistant Sound Supervisor to ensure the safe and timely load in and strike of all audio related equipment for each event in three venues. The Sound Technician will also run shows/events on an as needed basis and generally support the successful operation of the Sound Department throughout the 2020 Powerhouse Season. Duties include but are not limited to; leading a crew of interns during load in and strike of audio gear, assisting in implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all audio related aspects of each venue, running shows and/or overseeing intern operators as needed. Experience with analog and digital mixing consoles, and understanding of basic audio terminology and signal flow required. Prior live mixing experience preferred.,
