Job Description

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for the position of carpentry intern. CATF, a LORT D summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theatre. The festival premieres or produces six plays per season in three venues in rotating rep. We are committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located an hour from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America\x92s coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV.,

"CATFs Carpentry team consists of a lead carpenter, two staff carpenters, and three carpentry interns. Carpentry Interns work under the supervision of Carpenters and TD\x92s to build the scenery for the Festival\x92s six shows. During Tech each intern will be assigned to a venue to serve as deck crew and assist with changeover and scenery maintenance.",

Applicants should be able to lift and carry at least 50lbs, be comfortable working at heights up to 40\x92 (in a combination of lifts, ladders, and catwalks) and have experience with standard theatrical construction techniques and tools. Basic Theatrical Rigging and/or MIG welding knowledge is prefered, but not required.,

Position is seasonal, from late May to early August. All staff and interns are provided free air conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned,) 1-2 meals per day during tech, and free use of University gym, pool, and laundry facilities.,
