Opera Saratoga, formerly Lake George Opera, began with a production of Die Fledermaus at the Diamond Point Theatre on July 5, 1962, playing to an audience of 230. The Company now calls Saratoga Springs, New York home and performs for more than 25,000 people annually during the Summer Festival, as well as through community engagement programs year-round. The 2020 Summer Festival under the leadership of Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson, will feature 3 different productions: The Pirates of Penzance, Sky on Swings, Madama Butterfly; as well as a wide variety of concerts at diverse venues unique to the region.,

THE POSITION ,
,
Opera Saratoga is looking for self-motivated individuals with an extensive amount of opera or stage management experience. The ideal candidate is one who is proficient in reading music, creating running paper work, overseeing backstage operations, organizing the rehearsal process and are able to do all of this with a professional attitude. Candidates should also possess experience working with varying level of crews, supervising ASM\x92s and working with larger choruses.,

The Stage Manager is contracted as a full time resident position for the Summer Festival. For the 2020 Season, he/she will be required to be in residence from May 15th to July 3rd. Outside of the residence period, he/she completes task as needed on a limited basis remotely.,

RESPONSIBILITIES:,

\x95Work with OS staff to organize and prepare rehearsal hall;,
\x95Prepare and supervise all stage management paperwork;,
\x95Maintain an organized and positive rehearsal process;,
\x95Communicate all rehearsal needs with appropriate departments;,
\x95Supervise one ASM and SM intern;,
\x95Communicate in a positive and effective manner;,
\x95Create and distribute daily rehearsal and performances reports; ,
\x95Work with schedule to create daily rehearsal schedule;,
\x95Maintain all artistic and production value during the run of the production,

QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED SKILLS,
,
The Stage Manager will bring a strong appreciation of Opera Saratoga\x92s mission and a desire to positively both impact the organization\x92s long-term success and enhance the quality of productions presented by the company. He/she must have the following skills and experience:,
,
\x953+ years\x92 experience as a Stage Manager, working in professional opera and/or theater;,
\x95Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking to overcome challenges;,
\x95Well-developed communication skills;,
\x95Maturity and understanding of the artistic process and excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and diplomacy skills;,
\x95Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment;,
\x95Driver\x92s License required,

COMPENSATION, TRAVEL AND HOUSING,

Competitive compensation based on experience. Travel stipend, and housing during the Summer Residency period is provided. ,
