Summary Description:,
Hattiloo Theatre is a free-standing, independent Black theatre company. We are a small, but strong and growing organization. As such, we depend on the Technical Director having the daily responsibility for Hattiloo\x92s technical operations, including lighting, sound, set design and construction, and coordinating necessary maintenance. This position is also responsible for managing a team of resident interns. This is a hands-on position that includes working with tools, lights and dimmers, and sound equipment. ,

Essential Job Functions:,
1)Coordinate and execute all scenery construction including drafting, engineering, and installation to the specifications of the Scenic Designer ,
2)Coordinate and execute lighting plot to the specifications of the lighting designer ,
3)Operates, maintains and safeguards the technical assets of the theatre, including supervising the use and repairs of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilities,
4)Assists guest designers with technical specifications and space procedures,
5)Assists in recruiting, training and assignment of volunteer or paid technical staff for individual shows ,
6)Orients facility renters and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics and other areas of facility operations,
7)Coordinate load in and strike for each production,
8)Attend all production and staff meetings, tech rehearsals, and preview performances ,
9)Assist on other Hattiloo special events or programs as needed,
10)Acquire and manage inventory of materials and equipment as needed for productions,
11)Supervise and maintain shop vehicles,
12)Maintain Hattiloo machinery, tools, bulk inventory, and scenic/show inventory ,
13)Participate in season planning which includes reading scripts, preliminary budgeting, and preliminary scheduling,
14)Assists guest designers with technical matters,
15)Assists in recruiting, training and assignment of resident interns, volunteers, or paid technical staff for individual shows ,
16)Orients facility renters and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics and other areas of facility operations,
17)Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting and sound; arranges for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints,
18)Assists with the control of production budgets,
19)Train and provide support for backstage running crews,
Job Qualifications:,
Education: Master\x92s Degree or Bachelors with equivalent post-school experience. ,

Working Conditions,
For training and supervision of personnel, may need to occasionally lift and carry items up to 75lbs and may experience discomfort from bending, twisting, climbing, crawling, pushing, kneeling, stooping, and reaching overhead; may occasionally be exposed to humidity and temperature outside normal ranges; may be exposed to dust, and electrical hazards from construction of stage sets and working with high voltage; stand and walk 75% of the time; may occasionally need to use special tools; weekend and evening hours.,
