Job Description

The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego seeks an experienced Lighting Director. The qualified candidate must be a highly-organized self-starter who is able to collaborate to meet a demanding and exciting production schedule. The position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of lighting and video/projections for more than 16 productions and special events each year in three venues. Responsibilities include: creating and managing budgets; supervising and supporting department staff, three Master Electricians, and over-hire electricians; working with and advising designers to meet creative and budget goals; managing the execution of the design; and establishing high expectations for safe work practices. ,

A high level of proficiency with Vectorworks and Lightwright is required, additional skill with AutoCAD and Microsoft office suite is preferred. Qualified applicants should have an excellent understanding of the design process and deep practical knowledge of lighting systems and effects, video, and electrical systems. Five years progressive experience in theatrical lighting management is required. Union house experience is desired.,
