Job Description

"Shakespeare and Company, located in Western Massachusetts, is looking for a Paid Audio Interns to join the Sound Department. Our season features 8 shows on four different stages. Shakespeare and Company\x92s season features 8 shows on four different stages. Shop spaces include natural light in 2nd floor, air-conditioned Costume Shop and our Scene Shop is 110 x 60 and includes a 20\x92 x 40\x92 Paint deck. We have separate Sound and Lighting facilities as well as 3,500 sq. ft. of costume stock and 12,000+ sq. ft. of props and scenic storage. The Props Department has a separate shop from the Scenic Department. Shakespeare + Company has an Equity LORT D playhouse seating approximately 400, an Equity SPT 4 black box theater with a 200 seat house, and two outdoor theaters, one LORT D and the other non-equity, both which have a capacity over 290.",

The Paid Sound Intern would work closely with the Sound Supervisor in setting up the theater\x92s sound system for the season followed by the efficient programming of the playback software. The Paid Sound Intern would then will find themselves preparing and checking the system prior to each performance followed by running the show and ensuring proper shut down procedures are followed. Classes, lecturers and other events for the internship company will be held throughout the summer season.,

Preferred applicants will have a familiarity in sound engineering and signal flow. Familiarization with qLab3 is necessary for this positon. Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds, Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds, be over the age of 18, and be comfortable working at heights.,

There are two Paid Audio Internships. They both begin in mid-June and one ends in early-September while the other ends in mid-Septmeber, Shorter availabilities will be considered. Housing for non-local applicants may be available through local applicants are preferred.,
