Gallery Lighting Technician (Regular Full-Time),
Exhibition Design and Production,

Working in the museum\x92s art environments and gallery spaces, the Gallery Lighting Technician supports the museum\x92s exhibition program through the installation, maintenance, and alteration of gallery lighting fixtures and other electrical equipment. Reporting to the Manager of Gallery Construction, this position is a critical member of LACMA\x92s staff and supports the Exhibitions program at the museum.,

Some duties include: working in coordination with the Exhibition Design and Production team, in particular, the Gallery Lighting Designer, to meet exhibition requirements and deadlines; working closely with Facilities to adhere to strict architectural, electrical, and fire codes; programming gallery lighting control system; lays out, assembles, installs, tests, and maintains light fixtures and electrical devices such as conduit, wiring outlets; tests circuits for continuity and proper connections; performs skilled professional work in the installation, maintenance, and alteration and repair of wiring, electrical appliances; uses standard and specialized electrical devices or equipment such as voltmeter, amp meter, ohmmeter, light meter, and other hand tools; repairs and maintains gallery lighting fixtures; maintains tools and equipment in good working condition; maintains records of work performed and prepares reports as required; may supervise apprentices or helpers; performs other duties or special projects as assigned; maintain regular and reliable attendance,,

The ideal candidate will have completed an electrician apprentice training program and have 2 years of experience in installation, alteration, and repair of commercial electrical wiring systems and equipment; Knowledge of current LED lamp and lens technologies and strategies. Keen color perception. Ability to carry up to 50 pounds, work safely on ladders, and perform duties at heights over twenty-five feet. Previous experience operating lifts required. Comfort and ease while working with a wide range of personalities in a creative environment. Museum, theater and/or motion picture experience preferred.,
