Job Description

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for the position of electrics intern. CATF, a LORT D summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theatre. The festival premieres or produces six plays per season in three venues in rotating rep. We are committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located an hour from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America\x92s coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV.,

CATF\x92s Electrics Department consists of three Master Electricians (one per venue) and three Electrics Interns who all work together to execute the lighting designs for the festivals 6 productions. During tech Electrics Interns are assigned to serve as the board op in one of CATFs venues and assist with the daily scenic changeovers in their assigned space.,

Applicants should be able to lift and carry 50lbs and have a basic knowledge of hanging, focusing, and maintaining common theatrical instruments, as well as some experience operating lighting consoles. All Electrics Interns must be comfortable hanging and focusing lighting from a ladder (up to 16ft), \x93Genie\x94 lifts (up to 30ft) and working in catwalks (up to 40\x92). Previous experience with ETC Ion consoles is preferred, but not required.,

Position is seasonal, from late May to early August. All staff and interns are provided free air conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned,) 1-2 meals per day during tech, and free use of University gym, pool, and laundry facilities.,
