"The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County is seeking FREELANCE TECHNICAL DIRECTORS+nbsp;to work with our rentals department on site at client locations across North America. Rental TDs coordinate with rental clients in advance of load-in and load-out, and then travel to the location to supervise the installation and strike of our sets at those locations.+nbsp;",
Rental TDs are hired on an "as needed" basis, and we are looking to add several qualified candidates to our call list for future rentals. Many of our clients are schools, and so we typically have the most need for technicians in the spring and fall.+nbsp;,
RESPONSIBILITIES,
"Rental TDs are expected to plan the load-in and load-out of the set as best as they are able using+nbsp;available plans and documentation of the set rental package, and in consultation with the Gateways rental manager, and the rental clients technical director. Rental TDs are expected to have a strong knowledge of safe stage construction practices, a working knowledge of safe stage rigging practices, and a strong knowledge of how to safely pack a set for road transport in a semi-trailer.",
Rental TDs are responsible for affirming the condition of the set on arrival, and in packing for the return, and for affirming that a set has been safely installed at the rental client\s venue prior to departure. Rentals TDs are expected to work in a "point and direct" capacity the rental client\s venue.,
QUALIFICATIONS,
Freelance Technical Directors working with our rentals department must possess the following skills and abilities.+nbsp;,
* The ability to read plans and drawings, interpret from photos, and to make adjustments at the venue to safely install the set,+nbsp;* A strong knowledge of safe theatrical construction practices.+nbsp;* A working knowledge of safe stage rigging practices.+nbsp;* Ability to plan in advance a load-in / load-out with on-site technical director.+nbsp;+nbsp;* Confidence / comfort running a crew of 6 - 10 people on site.+nbsp;+nbsp;* Ability to think on your feet,* Strong oral and written communication skills.,
The following experience is desired....+nbsp;,
* Past experience as a technical director, production manager, head carpenter,or other production department supervisor.* Prior customer service / customer care experience - you will be the primary point of contact and the primary representative of Gateway Set Rentals while on site.* Past experience touring is desired. Experience with a "bus and truck" tour is strongly desired.,
COMPENSATION,

"Rental TDs are paid a day rate of $300 - $500 (DOE) for each day (10 working hours) on site. Travel days are paid in addition to days on site based on the rental TDs day rate and time spent in transit to and from the location. Travel is generally arranged by the rental client, but expenses that are not (i.e. airport parking) will be reimbursed by The Gateway. Tourist class hotels are arranged by the rental client while our rental TD is on site, and where meals are not provided, The Gateway will reimburse up to $50 in daily meal expenses.+nbsp;+nbsp;",

"Gateway Set Rentals rents to clients across North America, and we are interested in working with technicians from across the United States. Residence at the Gateways home location in Bellport, NY is not required, although travel to rental client venues is required.+nbsp;",
