Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT), a CORST X AEA resident summer music theatre, is looking for an ASSISTANT SCENIC PAINTS CHARGE for our 2020 season. ,

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting the Charge Artist with supervising shop staff, overseeing the painting and finishing of all scenic elements for each production in the season, coordinating with designers and other departments, helping maintain inventory, and sometimes acting as Lead Scenic on individual projects. ,

Successful candidates will be comfortable managing others, confident as an artist, have some experience in stagecraft, art history, architecture, drawing, drafting, color theory + value, scenic tools + techniques, foam carving, texture coatings, faux finishing, painting of hard scenery, backdrops, translucencies, scrims, etc. Must be able to work independently or on a team, follow directions, and learn new skills quickly.
