Job Description

Responsibilities will include serving as Technical Director for Department of Theatre + Dance season (which includes one musical, three plays and two dance concerts, and other student produced works throughout the academic year); acting as a mentor on student productions; serving as facility manager for other productions from across the University and the Community; managing the scene shop; tool and equipment maintenance and replacement; ensuring safety in all technical activities; oversee hang and focus, and a willingness to work with a diverse undergraduate student population. ,

Other responsibilities would consist of assisting and preparing budgets for departmental shows, handling paperwork, purchase requisitions, and time sheets, and coordinating strikes for productions. The candidate would be in charge of inventorying and monitoring equipment including lighting, sound and rigging. The candidate will be required to schedule all theatre + dance spaces and productions. Candidate will be responsible for overseeing THEA 2110 and THEA 4210: Production and lighting the dance concert.,

Minimum requirements for this position include: significant experience in technical direction for musicals, plays and dance concerts at the university level and/or significant professional experience in technical direction.,

Preferred requirements include: ,
M.F.A. in Technical Direction or Theatrical Design. The successful candidate will be proficient in current trends in scenic technology, and demonstrate skill with budget management, CAD drafting, rigging, carpentry and metalworking. The candidate must have significant experience in facilities management in higher education.,
