The Smithsonian Folklife Festival, founded in 1967, is an international exposition of living cultural heritage annually produced outdoors on the National Mall, taking place for two weeks every summer drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors.,

It is an educational presentation, usually divided into 2-3 unique programs, that features musicians, artists, performers, craftspeople, workers, cooks, storytellers, and others from states, regions, and nations around the world. ,

For the 2020 Festival the theme will be \x93Traditional Knowledge and the Environment\x94, we will create custom-built structures, stages, scenery, and other infrastructural projects in our 17,000 square foot shop to be installed on the National Mall in support of four programs that feature Brazil, UAE, Solar Decathlon, and SI Conservation Commons, all of which will feature living cultural traditions, crafts, food, fashion, music, performance, demonstrations, dance, and storytelling. ,

The Festival is a complex technical production, requiring a high level of coordination, communication, and expertise from all temporary staff. ,

Administrative Assistant Technical Director\x92s duties include, but are not limited to the following:,
,
-Assists Technical Director and tech crew with a variety of ancillary office support functions.,
-Assist in coordinating and scheduling of logistics and labor resources.,
-Assist in ordering of supplies and materials.,
-Provides administrative support with contracts, vendors, budgets, and receipts. ,
-Manage creation of procurement, reconciliation, and crew training documentation.,
-Uses Microsoft Word and Excel and Adobe Acrobat for data entry and other clerical needs. ,
-Answers telephone calls, receives deliveries, and serves as timekeeper.,
-Serve as equipment clerk by managing equipment, radios, and tool sign out. ,

Candidate must have prior experience in the theatre/ entertainment/production industry, or equivalent office experience, and have superior knowledge in the following areas:,
-Leadership and Supervisory experience,
-Judgement and decision making in high stress, fast paced situations,
-Logistics, scheduling, estimating, and procurement,
-Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat,
-Clerical and Administrative skills,
-Stage Management experience is a plus.,
