Position Title:Draper/Cutter,
Department:Costume Shop,

Position Summary,
The Draper/Cutter is responsible for the production of patterns based on the costume renderings, sketches, research, and verbal instructions of the Costume Designer. The Draper/Cutter is also responsible for leading a team and overseeing all necessary areas for the fit and completion of all costumes for all specified shows.,

Essential Functions,
\x95 Uses the Sketch provided by the costume designer to drape or pattern the costume ,
\x95Fabricates patterns, either by draping, flat patternmaking, or pattern software for specific actors ,
\x95 Fits all costumes to the actor ,
\x95 Cuts or supervises the cutting of all fabric for the costume from the pattern created ,
\x95 Determines yardage for fabric and trims for the costume ,
\x95 Corrects patterns or alters costumes as necessary ,
\x95 Supervises a crew by preparing and delegating work to First Hands and Stitchers ,
\x95 Researches the period, style and techniques necessary to complete the costume within the costume designer\x92s guidelines ,
\x95 Maintains the integrity of the costume design through his/her interpretation of the sketch ,

Qualifications,
\x95Demonstrated proficiency in flat patterning ,
"\x95Demonstrated proficiency in draping and the sculptural using of fabric ",
\x95Knowledge of/and experience in a variety of costume construction techniques including tailoring, period construction techniques, and alterations.,
\x95Understanding of period shape and how to adapt it to theatrical costumes ,
\x95Good working knowledge of costume history ,

Skills / Abilities,
\x95Ability to operate shop equipment including industrial and domestic sewing machines, multi needle and leather sewing machines, steam irons, and cutting tools,
\x95Proven skills in pattern making, cutting, construction, crafts, millinery, and fittings,
\x95Ability to collaborate with the costume team to efficiently complete assigned projects.,
\x95Excellent organizational skills,
\x95Excellent time management skills,
\x95Excellent communication skills ,
\x95Ability to lift 20 lbs,

Production Dates: March 30th \x96 May 30th and/or June 1st \x96 July 24th ,

Salary / Rate: $17 / hour plus overtime,
