Actors,
The number of actors auditioning for each production varies between 30-60. Because everyone who auditions is cast, directors should be creative and use ways to include the entire cast. In the past, dances or crowd scenes where everyone gets to sing or chant or participate have been added to the script. This means they come to rehearsals; they have costumes and feel a part of the crew. We frequently pay a small stipend to a choreographer to assist if music and dance are needed.,
The age range is 8-18. We do get children of all those ages, but usually, roughly 75% are in 8-13 age group, and 25% are in the 14-18 age group. Also, usually 60-70% are girls, 30-40% boys.,
Rehearsal Schedule,
While there is some flexibility, rehearsal schedules should be planned around 8-10 weeks of 3-4 evenings per week from 6:30-8:30 at Riverside Arts Center. We do not rehearse on weekend. We move from the off-center into the theater on the Sunday evening prior to tech week and have the theater all hours of that week. Tech week rehearsals are usually full cast, and are often longer than the 2-hour time slot. Directors are expected to attend each rehearsal and performance unless previous arrangements have been made with the producers,
Production,
Our production is done by volunteers working collaboratively with the director. They are led by two to four producer and committee leads and parents who form the committees. Committees include set construct, costumes, and prop. A director should plan to work closely with the producer and the leads. There are also committees for concessions, the cast party, and advertising.,
