Job Description

ACT of Connecticut, a new 180-seat Equity theatre located in Ridgefield, seeks a part-time Master Electrician. The Master Electrician ensures the timely and accurate management of all lighting elements for ACT\x92s 3 mainstage productions, Broadway Unplugged Series, New Works Festival, summer camp productions, and other productions as needed. The Master Electrician will also manage and maintain performance-related electrics systems and equipment. Position is part-time, approximately 50-60 hours/week during production, 20-25 hours/week during the run and flexible hours between productions averaging 10-15 hours/week.,

Master Electrician is responsible for implementing the lighting design for each production and,
maintaining the integrity of the lighting design throughout the performance period.,

Duties include:,
,
\x95 Prepare paperwork, order perishables and arrange rentals for each production,
\x95 Hire and supervise electrics crew and/or interns for hang, focus and strike (in coordination with the production manager/technical director),
\x95 Program the console during tech period (ETC Ion),
\x95 Responding to emergency lighting needs, by phone or in person as needed,
\x95 Inventory, repair and maintenance of all conventional fixtures, LED fixtures, moving lights, LED light boxes, cables, effects, power distribution, dimmers, networking and lighting control consoles.,
\x95 Organization and purchasing of all consumables including color gel, gobos, and gaffer tape.,

Education/Skills Required:,
3-5 years\x92 experience as a working theatrical electrician and 1-2 years as a master electrician. Previous,
experience with ETC Ion lighting board, programming and operations. Ability to work at heights, lifting a minimum of 60 pounds. Ability to lead a small team to accomplish the lighting design on time and on budget. Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team in a small professional theatre that stretches its limited resources. Open, honest communication skills. Ability to identify issues before they become problems.,
