Job Description

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for the position of Projections/Video Department Head. CATF, a LORT D summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theatre. The festival premieres or produces six plays per season in three venues in rotating rep. The Video/Projections Head will work with 1-2 designers (1 per venue) to implement their vision of the productions (potentially incorporating a mixture of playback and live sources) in both fixed installation and reconfigurable theaters. They will be responsible for overseeing a staff of 1-2 interns who will assist with system setup and become the operators for the shows during the run. ,

Applicants should have experienced working in fixed installation theaters as well as flexible spaces with temporary projection systems and should be comfortable with basic theatrical rigging and working at heights over 20 feet (in lifts, ladders, or catwalks). Experience with Qlab and crew management is required. Experience with other playback software (such as Isadora or Watchout), equipment purchase and/or rental specification, and newer video transport systems (DVI over Fiber, HDBaseT, etc) is preferred.,

Position is seasonal, from late May to early August. All staff and interns are provided free air conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned,) 1-2 meals per day during tech, and free use of University gym, pool, and laundry facilities. ,
