Kansas City event and theatrical supply company with over 40 years of experience is experiencing start-up style growth under current management. We\x92re looking for a new shop manager to join our team! The shop manager manages the construction of theatre scenery and custom fabrication, assists in the quoting and construction of custom fabrication pieces for theatre, events, and commercial clients. This position is also responsible for performing general maintenance and upkeep of shop machinery and tools, plans and organizes construction projects, and manages production shop employees.,

Responsibilities:,
Manage fabrication/scenic shop,
Manage carpenters, welders, and fabricators,
Coordinate the shipping/receiving of materials, equipment, scenery, props, etc.,
Evaluate labor needs and schedule accordingly,
Oversee build processes from start to finish; from providing fabrication estimates to sales people through installation on site for clients. Includes fabrication of props, scenery, sets, pipe grids, lighting grids, etc. Ensure that projects come in on time, within budget, and meeting all client requirements,
Oversee and quality control the execution of pull and tags for off-site installations, as well as prepare vehicle loads,
Oversee the integration of custom elements into outsourced scenic/fabrication elements,
Ensures an accident-free work environment by enforcing safety rules and training and supervising new employees when operating shop tools and equipment,
Contributes to the overall success of A to Z Theatrical Supply and Service by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned,

Qualifications/Must Have:,
2+ years of management experience,
5+ years of scenic, stage building, custom fabrication, or trade show experience,
5+ years of welding, metal fabrication, or carpentry,
Valid driver\x92s license, Class E a plus. Ability to drive vehicles in our fleet including trucks, vans, and trailers,
Ability to drive/use a forklift, pallet jack, and scissor lift.,
Working knowledge of build materials and techniques to execute builds,
Work collaboratively with multiple internal and external teams,
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects,
Ability to work at any height using appropriate safety equipment on scaffolding, ladders, lifts, grids, etc.,
Detail-oriented,
Comfortable employing software to manage tasks and jobs,
Strong leadership qualities,
Excellent communication skills,
Experience working in various mediums: wood, metal, plastics, fabrics, etc.,
Preferred: Experience integrating lighting, A/V equipment, electrical, and mechanical elements into custom fabrication,
Preferred: OSHA10 or OSHA30 certification in construction,

Full time. The shop is staffed 8-6 Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours as job duties and client needs dictate.,

The work area involves moderate discomfort and/or risk such as that from moving machinery, occasional work with hazardous substances, or moderate levels of noise. The work may require wearing of protective gear. The work area is generally adequately lit bu may involve uncomfortable temperatures at times.,

Work requires maximum exertion on a daily basis. prolonged and frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, crawling, and/or heavy lifting represent normal work day activities.
