Job Description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION,
Oversees the daily construction and assembly of all scenery, temporary employees, equipment, supplies and inventory.,
,
RESPONSIBILITIES (\x95 denotes essential/primary responsibilities, o denotes secondary responsibilities),
\x95Direct and lead carpentry staff.,
\x95Manage daily work-flow of the scene shop and the load-ins.,
\x95Work with Technical Director to create all scenic elements and develop scenic solution within budget and time parameters.,
\x95Direct the changeovers from production to production in the area of scenery across both stages.,
\x95Train and supervise all labor regarding scenic construction.,
\x95Direct the maintenance of all scene shop equipment and theatrical equipment.,
\x95Under the leadership of the Technical Director, develop and lead staff to meet production schedule goals.,
\x95Coordinate work-flow with the Scenic Artists.,
\x95Work with Technical Director to develop and maintain scene shops and stage related facilities.,
\x95Ensure that the scenery aspects of the production are maintained during the life of each production.,
\x95Follow the established production purchasing procedures.,
\x95Assist with education tours when necessary.,
oSupport and actively contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity, inclusion and equity at Colorado College and work effectively with all members of the campus community.,
oPromote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training. ,
oDemonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college\x92s sustainability initiatives and innovation.,
oPerform other duties as assigned.,

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS,
High school graduate plus a minimum of three years of professional theatre carpentry experience; industry knowledge of the following: carpentry, rigging (fly house/fixed grid), steel, foam and plastics; leadership and supervision experience;ability to use basic carpentry and power tools; personal computer; knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions; strong communication and collaboration skills. Physical requirements include ability to stand for long periods of time; exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently lifting and moving objects; frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching; occasional climbing of ladders and scaffolds; frequent carrying of loads up and down stairs; works in all weather conditions and in very dusty, noisy conditions; occasionally exposed to chemicals and solvents; good vision and hearing essential.,

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS,
Bachelor\x92s degree; 5 years of carpentry experience; 5 years of technical theatre experience; 5 years of supervision experience; Vectorworks or Autocad experience.,
