Opera Saratoga, formerly Lake George Opera, began with a production of Die Fledermaus at the Diamond Point Theatre on July 5, 1962, playing to an audience of 230. The Company now calls Saratoga Springs, New York home and performs for more than 25,000 people annually during the Summer Festival, as well as through community engagement programs year-round. The 2020 Summer Festival under the leadership of Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson, will feature 3 different productions: The Pirates of Penzance, Sky on Swings, Madama Butterfly; as well as a wide variety of concerts at diverse venues unique to the region.,

THE POSITION,
,
The Assistant Master Electrician/Programmer is responsible for assisting the Master Electrician (ME) in leading the electrics crew and interns by implementing the lighting design for each production of the 2020 Summer Festival. He/she must have the following skills and experience:,

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES,
,
\x95Programs the ETC console for tech rehearsals and performances.,
\x95Assist the ME in evaluating the lighting plot to generate necessary paperwork for load in.,
\x95Assists in supervising the hang and focus of lighting equipment and helps to arrange for the pick-up and return of all borrowed and rented lighting ,
equipment,
\x95Assists in the purchasing of all supplies and remains within budget unless authorized by the PM through the ME,
\x95Maintains lighting equipment and reports to ME when extensive repairs or replacements are needed.,
\x95Performs the essential job functions safely,
\x95Is comfortable working at heights from Genie lifts, ladders and scaffolding.,
\x95Responsible for a pre-show check, maintenance and repair of all lights during the run of each production.,
\x95Take part in all Lighting change overs.,
\x95Keeping all work areas clean and promoting a safe working environment.,
\x95Being a part of the run crew as needed for each production. ,
\x95Any other duties as assigned,

DESIRED SKILLS,
,
\x952+ years\x92 experience as Assistant Master Electrician, or 3+ years\x92 experience as an Electrician/Lead working in professional opera and/or theater,
\x95Basic knowledge of electricity and how it applies to theatrical lighting,
\x95Experience in both hang and focus of theatrical lighting equipment,
\x95Ability to read a light plot.,
\x95Ability to safely lift 60+ pounds. ,
\x95Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.,
\x95Able to work above 20+ feet comfortably ,
\x95Computer proficient (MS word, Excel, Vectorworks, or AutoCad, and internet file sharing),
\x95Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking to overcome challenges,
\x95Well-developed communication skills,
\x95Experience in a supervisory position and leading crew calls,
\x95Maturity and understanding of the artistic process and excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and diplomacy skills,
\x95Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work quickly and accurately with attention to detail,
\x95Driver\x92s License required,
