Position Summary Information,
Essential Duties Summary1. The Theatrical Carpenter, who focuses in carpentry, will help facilitate technical preparation, load-in, load-out, and support of all events in the Glicker-Milstein Theatre through supervising and/or assisting with load-ins, light hang and focus, technical rehearsals, change-over, seating riser moves, strike and load-outs.,
2. The Theatrical Carpenter will serve as the primary carpenter on all student productions and will advise groups of best building practices. This includes supplying a response to scenic designs in a timely manner.,
3. Will supervise student technicians and student production teams in all theatre spaces including GMT, control room, greenroom, scene shop, lobby, and dressing rooms during load-ins, technical rehearsals, show runs, strike and load-outs,
4. Will interact with and anticipate the needs of student production teams.,
5. The Theatrical Carpenter will adhere to and help enforce GMT procedures as well as the operating rules and regulations for all spaces.,
6. The Theatrical Carpenter will directly communicate with the Program Director for Arts Education and Theatre Coordinator on a daily basis regarding needs and details of, support for, and the execution of projects and events in the Glicker-Milstein Theatre and its support spaces.,
7. The Theatrical Carpenter will receive general supervision and instructions and details regarding each production but it is expected that s/he will work in an independent manner, able to develop and implement strategic plans for each production.,
8. Help maintain working order, cleanliness, and organization in all areas of GMT and support spaces including GMT, greenroom, scene shop, lobby, and dressing rooms.,
9. Will help maintain props and furniture, including seats and seating areas of GMT.,
10. May occasionally serve as run crew for productions.,
11. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed/assigned by the Program Director for Arts Education,

- Ability to lead a team of pre-professionals.,
- Knowledge of general theatre technology and terminology is a must.,
Required Qualification Summary- Candidate must have at least three full years experience in working as a theatrical carpenter,
- Candidate must also have ample safe rigging experience,
- Familiarity with ETC lighting consoles,
- Familiarity with Qlab,
- Must have ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours as dictated by production calendar. The typical workweek for this position is Sunday through Wednesday but additional shifts may be added or removed on a case-by-case basis.,
Preferred Qualification Summary- Experience working with students is strongly preferred.,
- Experience leading a team is preferred,
- Extensive rigging experience,
- Experience with Strand Dimmers and control systems,
- Proficient knowledge in theatrical lighting, audio, projection technology and technical theatre best practices,
Physical Demands Summary- Ability to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.,
- Ability to work in elevated environments (catwalks, lighting grids, lifts, etc.),
- Physically fit to carry tools, equipment, and materials.,
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or sit for prolonged periods of time.,
Salary Range$25-$30 per hour (commensurate with experience),
