Job Description

The Assistant Technical Director shall support the Technical Director (TD) in ensuring that the planning, implementation, and supervision of work to meet the technical requirements of a GALA production, presentation, festival, program, and guest artist production is conducted and completed in a timely manner The technical requirements relate to lighting, sound, projections, and set construction. The Assistant Technical Director shall also support the TD to conduct basic maintenance of the facility and to make all technical equipment functional. IIn coordination with the TD and the Rental Manager, the Assistant Technical Director and Production Manager will maintain the official calendar for use of the GALA Theatre, lobby, and workshop space. ,

Responsibilities and Duties:,
1.Works with Producing Artistic Director, Associate Producing Director, Production Manager, TD, and Rental Manager to identify, address, and satisfy the technical requirements of all GALA main stage, presenting, GALita, and Paso Nuevo productions.,
2.Supports the TD in the planning and supervision of the construction for, load-in, and strike of all productions in accordance with production budget.,
3.Assists with the construction and set-up at load in and load out, as necessary.,
4.Purchases show material, consumables and supplies for all production departments, as necessary.,
5.In coordination with the Rental Manager is responsible for the maintenance and supervision of the facility.,
6.Works with the Master Electrician and lead Sound Technician to maintain all equipment, including lighting, sound, and translation devices.,
7. Participates in the orientation provide to renters of the facility renters and personnel of guest productions on safety matters, technical equipment and capabilities, and other areas of facility operations.,
8.Assists with work to address technical and personnel needs for rentals.,
9.Assists with the preparation and management of production budgets.,
10.Works with the Production Manager to identify, plan, implement, and complete maintenance projects.,

Required Skills and Experience:,
1.2 years experience in Technical Direction or equivalent experience,
2.Experience staffing and leading crews,
3.Ability to read theatrical drawings,
4.Proven experience in stage carpentry,
5.Rigging and mechanical/structural design skills,
6.Must be able to work independently, and have strong communication and management skills,
7.Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks.,
8.Ability to lift 70 lbs,
9.Valid Driver\x92s License,
Desired:,
1.BA or BFA in Technical Theatre or equivalent experience,
2.Proficiency in Spanish,
3.Familiarity with theatrical sound, projections, and lighting systems,

Reporting:,
1.The Assistant Technical Director is under the supervision of the Technical Director, who reports to the Production Manager.,
2.The Assistant Technical Director and the Technical Director will meet with the Production Manager on a weekly basis, and with the Producing Artistic Director and Associate Producing Director, as necessary. ,
