THE OPPORTUNITY ,
JOB PURPOSE: ,
\x95To work with the scene shop staff to build, load-in, and strike for up to (11) AEA Studio Theatre productions per year in any of the 4 venues used as performance spaces.,
\x95To maintain scene shop equipment in all venues at Studio Theatre.,

KEY RESULT AREAS: ,
\x95Implement build drawings provided by Technical Director on schedule.,
\x95Build, load-in, and strike scenery in an efficient and safe manner.,
\x95Collaborate with the Technical Director and scene shop staff to solve production challenges.,
\x95Maintain and repair equipment in the scene shop and performance venues,
\x95Assist in the upkeep of inventory of the scene shop and performance spaces.,
\x95Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the Scene Shop and performance spaces.,

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ,
\x95The safe construction of all scenery for Studio Theatre productions.,
\x95Assist with the load-in of scenery for Studio Theatre productions.,
\x95Assist in the strike of all scenery for Studio Theatre productions.,
\x95Clearly communicate the progress of projects to the Technical Director.,
\x95Maintain a neat and safe workspace.,
\x95Assist Technical Director in maintaining shop inventory. This may include ordering supplies from approved Studio vendors.,
\x95Assist in the training of the scene shop apprentice in all areas of scenery construction.,
\x95Assist in maintaining a clean scene shop and performance venues,
\x95Attend all meetings related to the Studio season as assigned including, Production Kickoff, all necessary Production meetings, 1st Rehearsal events, All Staff Meetings, all necessary Production Staff meetings and Staff Runs.,
\x95Be prepared to act as Technical Director, if necessary,
\x95Other duties as assigned,

Requirements:,
\x95High School diploma and/or 2-3 years appropriate theatrical work experience, BA or BFA in technical theater preferred. ,
\x95Excellent carpentry skills including the ability to build a variety of theatrical set pieces quickly and accurately.,
\x95Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on projects both on an individual basis and in a group.,
\x95Ability to read and build off of construction drawings.,
\x95Knowledge and experience with theatrical rigging.,
\x95High level of skill in MIG welding.,
\x95Knowledge of theatrical steel construction techniques.,
\x95Ability to manage over hire, apprentice, and intern carpenters.,
\x95Possess a valid driver\x92s license.,
\x95Ability to lift 75lbs multiple times during the course of the day.,
