Dorset Theatre Festival, an acclaimed AEA summer company in Vermont, seeks a Costume Shop Manager for its 2020 summer season. Employment dates run May 26 through early September. ,

Working with Costume Designers and reporting to the Production Manager, the Costume Shop Manager coordinates costume shop operations and the timely completion of costumes. ,

The Costume Shop Manager will supervise a Costume Shop Technician and a Wardrobe Apprentice, as well as overhire staff when necessary. The Costume Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing and participating in the budgeting, construction, pulling, fitting, and strike of costume elements for 4 shows within budget and deadline parameters.,

The Costume Shop Manager will attend all production meetings and tech rehearsals to coordinate costume fitting schedules, rehearsal needs, and performance notes. They will ensure fitting notes are executed in a timely manner, as well as attend costume fittings as appropriate. They will oversee acquisition, purchases, rentals, and maintenance of all costume items, manage and maintain costume shop inventory, and manage costume shop equipment, repairs, and maintenance. ,

Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years experience working in a professional costume shop. Management experience is preferred, but similar professional costume shop experience and/or educational experience with supervisory or management experience will also be considered. The candidate should have a mastery of costume construction and fabrication techniques, and knowledge of cutting, draping, patterning, and costume and fashion history. Wig styling and makeup experience desirable.,

Candidates should also have excellent interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, communication, and leadership skills; demonstrated experience working on multiple productions within tight timelines and budgets.,

Positive attitude and sense of humor and ability to work well for long hours with diverse personalities is a must. Valid driver\x92s license and access to personal vehicle desirable. ,

Salary commensurate with experience, less a $50 weekly housing contribution; single occupancy bedroom in a shared house for the summer season. ,
