Description: The Technical Direction Apprentice will assist the TD and ATD with the planning and execution of the scenic design to the highest professional standards. Assist with the paint department as necessary and able.,
,
The apprentice is required to follow safe working shop procedures. If able, apprentice will work comfortably on ladders/personnel lifts, and lift 50+ pounds. Applicants must be detail-oriented, flexible, positive, organized, self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in a high paced, multitasking environment.,

Responsibilities Include:,
,
Assisting the Technical Direction team with all aspects of planning, budgeting, coordinating, and implementing the scenic design for each production,
Keeping budgets up-to-date and keeping the team informed of overages.,
Drafting mainstage, CWRU/CPH MFA and special events as needed.,
Assisting ATD with construction of MFA and CPH Theatre Academy shows,
Providing assistance and support to IATSE Scene Shop Crew during build, load in, run and strike calls.,
Attending tech rehearsals and production meetings,
Working with team to research new materials and scenic construction techniques.,
Gathering material to support scenic shop.,

Ideal Candidates:,
,
Should have a background in scenic construction, scenic paint treatments, and technical theatre.,
Should be organized, detail-oriented, able to work on multiple productions simultaneously, and maintain a calm, professional disposition at all times.,
Familiarity with Vectorworks and the Microsoft office suite, or an ability to learn.,
Experience appreciated but not required in scenic automation, including Creative Conners, pneumatics, hydraulics, and AC/DC drives.,
Should have experience with safe rigging, including counterweight and point rigging.,
