Resident Scenic Charge Artist,

The Syracuse Stage Paint Shop produces for both Syracuse Stage, working with professional house staff, designers and directors from nearby NYC and across the nation, and the SU Department of Drama working with student and faculty designers. Charge Artist leads and supervises a staff of full time scenic artist and part time student labor.,

Ideal Candidate Skills and Qualities:,
Successful candidates will have experience in professional theatre, with the ability to consistently produce high quality work in a variety of styles and techniques, both independently and as team leader.,
,
Carving/sculpture experience and a broad knowledge of different materials, coatings, and finishing techniques.,
,
Must possess the ability to manage the paint shop time, budgets, and people well, while balancing multiple projects in various stage of production. Excellent problem-solving skills and proven ability to create and lead a positive work environment is key to this position.,

Demonstrated experience estimating paint labor and material expenses from preliminary design submissions. Ability to proactively and constructively collaborate with guest designers, student designers, and co-workers to revise designs to meet budget allocations.,

Position Dates and Salary:,
Position is full-time, annual, salaried position and includes a benefit package. 40+ hour work weeks and occasional weekend calls may be required as the work load dictates.,
Anticipated start date on or around July 1, 2020.,

Physical Demands + Working Conditions:,
Work may require routine physical exertion including working at heights or on the floor, long hours and paint work with a variety of chemical source material. Knowledge to use, teach and lead others in use of safety equipment and/or specific precautions is required.,
