The Lyric Repertory Company, a professional theatre company in summer residence at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, seeks a self-motivated, highly organized and experienced individual to serve as MASTER CARPENTER for the 2020 summer season. ,

"Lyric Rep will produce 6 shows in rolling repertory this season, 4 of which are fully realized, in 3 different venues. This is a full-time position with on-site residency required May 6 through July 29, 2020; paid as a seasonal flat fee USU employee. Valid drivers license and personal vehicle preferred.",

Job Description:,
Working with the Technical Director, oversee the physical implementation of approved scenic designs. Oversee daily operations of the scene shop in an efficient manner to meet all production deadlines. Oversee the construction, mounting and rigging of all scenery; supervise carpenter crew; interpret all shop drawings and assign work to carpenter crew; oversee all builds, ensuring accuracy and meeting budgetary and time restraints; participate in all builds, completing projects accurately and meeting all deadlines. Ensure proper safety equipment and methods are understood and used by all members of the construction crew; responsible for the safety of all crew members during work periods. Assist TD and scene shop manager in training crew, safety equipment and methods, and assigning crew to daily tasks; working with the shop manager, organize, execute and maintain the cleanliness and safety of tools, stage, shops/storage and support areas. Working with the lead carpenter and technical director; plan and oversee changeovers; ensure all scenic elements are accurate, safe, and in working order following each changeover; assist TD in planning and executing load-in, changeover and strike week according to schedules generated by the production manager. Assist with venue support as needed to ensure the overall success of the season and venue operations.,

Qualified applicants will have a degree in scenic design/technical production or equivalent professional experience; demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in rigging techniques and procedures; strong knowledge of safety protocols and practices; strong knowledge of drafting and scenic construction techniques; extensive construction experience; demonstrated knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings; high level of stamina and physical strength; high attention to detail and a very high level of manual dexterity; demonstrated knowledge and experience of building materials; strong woodworking and welding experience; working knowledge of CAD and Vectorworks; excellent time management skills; excellent interpersonal and communications skills; reliable and punctual; ability to delegate workload; ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of groups of people toward a common purpose; a strong willingness to learn; a calm confident presence during chaotic production periods; a positive, collaborative attitude; self-motivated with a strong team orientation; ability to multi-task and work well under pressure; ability to manage shifting and competing priorities; exercise good judgment and discretion; ability to work productively and meet deadlines in an environment of change, creative process and rigorous time management; a willingness to work hard as part of a team. Valid driver\x92s license and personal vehicle required. This position is seasonal full time with on-site residency required.,
